Summer and Indian summer September 19, 2008

It is feeling autumnal, even here in northern California. There’s a crispness in the morning air and a hint that the rainy season is nearing (California actually has two main seasons, dry and rainy, with two month-long transitional seasons in between). But this also brings on one of the nicer times of year here, Indian summer. This is a period of warm, sunny days (sometimes even very hot ones) without the pattern of ocean fog banks coming ashore every few days to cool things off.

Indian summer is the best time to get out and do things. Beaches and parks are almost empty since kids are back in school and their families only go there on weekends. It is a good time for picnics and long walks.

I loved to winter Northern California weather. The Rain was a little bit of a dag, but the air temperature was quite nice.

I got wet many times riding my Honda to lab….

I miss California weather. Summers in the Midwest just suck!
